  • Shaykh Abdulkarim yahya

    Shaykh AbdulKarim Yahya is the Imam and founder of Dar Al Rahma in Detroit, Michigan. Born and raised in Berkeley, California, he traveled extensively across the Middle East in pursuit of Sacred Knowledge. His studies led him to Damascus, Syria, and Tarim, Yemen, where he trained under Habib Umar bin Hafiz and the esteemed scholars of Dar al-Mustafa. His primary areas of expertise include Prophetic biography (Seerah), Islamic spirituality (Tazkiyah), and Shafi’i jurisprudence (Fiqh). He has been formally authorized to teach these disciplines and provide guidance in Sacred Law.

    As an American native and experienced hunter, Shaykh AbdulKarim embodies the balance between spiritual refinement and outdoor tradition. We are honored to have him as a pillar of support and wisdom in our community.

  • Imam Dawood yasin

    Imam Dawood Yasin is an experienced outdoorsman, skilled hunter, and expert wellness mentor. He previously served as the Director of Student Life and the Center for Ethical Living and Learning at Zaytuna College, as well as the Muslim Life and Service-Learning Coordinator at Dartmouth College. His formal Islamic education began at the Abu Nour Institute in Damascus, Syria.

    With experience teaching at two Ivy League institutions and America’s first Muslim liberal arts college, Imam Dawood brings a unique blend of scholarship, leadership, and practical knowledge to the American Bedouin ethos. We are thrilled to have him as a guiding force, helping us cultivate a way of life that integrates faith, the outdoors, and self-sufficiency.

  • Shaykh abdul aziz suraqah

    A Georgia native, Shaykh Abdul Aziz Suraqah began his Islamic studies in Atlanta in the mid-90s, learning Arabic and Quran at Masjid al-Farooq. His pursuit of knowledge took him across the Muslim world, where he trained at:

    Dar al-Hadith al-Khayriyya in Yemen

    Umm al-Qura Mahdara in Mauritania under Shaykh Muhammad Salim Ould ‘Addud

    Sidi Ghiyyath Quran School in Morocco, where he was the first Western student admitted into the full-time traditional program

    Currently, Shaykh Abdul Aziz serves as the resident scholar at Sachse Muslim Society in Texas. His profound understanding of both the body and soul makes his presence on our advisory board a tremendous asset. We are honored to have him share his knowledge and insight with our community.
